1. Introduction

Welcome to BestRemotely ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in an open and transparent manner. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Services").

Our Services are designed to connect talented professionals ("Talent") with remote-first companies ("Companies"). This policy applies to all users of our Services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways to provide and improve our Services.

a. Information You Provide to Us

  • Talent Profile Information: When you create a profile, we collect your full name, email address, headline, location, bio, skills, and links to your professional profiles (like GitHub, LinkedIn, or a personal portfolio). We also collect your profile photo. We deliberately do not ask for or collect your resume during the onboarding process.
  • Company Profile Information: When a company signs up, we collect the company's name, website, a contact person's name, and work email address, as well as information about the types of roles they typically hire for.
  • Communications: If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, the contents of the message, and any other information you may choose to provide.

b. Information We Collect Automatically

When you use our Services, we may automatically collect certain information about your device and usage, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, and information about your interaction with our website, such as pages visited. We use this information for analytics and to improve the user experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes, including:

  • To operate, maintain, and provide our Services, including facilitating connections between Talent and Companies.
  • To manage your profile and your chosen visibility settings (Public Spotlight or Private Listing).
  • To communicate with you, provide you with updates, respond to your inquiries, and for customer support purposes.
  • To send marketing communications, such as our newsletter featuring Talent, from which you can opt-out at any time.
  • To personalize your experience on our Services.
  • For compliance purposes, including enforcing our Terms of Service, or as required by applicable laws and regulations.

4. How We Share Your Information

Your privacy and control are paramount. We share your information only in the ways you have consented to.

a. For Talent

  • If you choose "Public Spotlight": Your profile information (including your name, photo, bio, headline, skills, and professional links) will be featured on our homepage, in our public newsletter, and potentially on our social media channels. Your email address will NOT be made public.
  • If you choose "Private Listing": Your profile will not be public. It will only be shared with vetted Companies via private, direct introductions when they express interest in a profile matching your skills. We will facilitate a warm introduction, at which point you can choose to share your contact information.

b. For Companies

Your company name and the roles you hire for may be shared with Talent when we facilitate an introduction. Your personal contact information will not be shared without your consent.
